Applications

***New for 2025.  Only one application need be completed for all programming***

Through our Respite Program, we provides a reprieve to parents, caretakers, and guardians from the daily tasks associated with caring for a loved one who needs special attention. Each year we offer respites in the spring and fall season.

Our individual-to-counselor ratio of less than two-to-one enables our staff to serve a variety of people with special needs. All Respite Program staff are fully trained, background checked, and fingerprinted, as well as experienced, skilled, and trained in working with individuals with disabilities. Their warmth and spirit assure a safe, fun weekend for all. The Respite Program improves socialization skills to increase confidence and independence in the individuals we serve.

Respite attendees arrive at Camp on Friday after 7:00 p.m. and depart on Sunday between 2:00 and 3:00 p.m. and are driven to and from camp by their families.

Individuals who attend Respite enjoy a weekend filled with:

  • arts & crafts
  • culinary arts
  • music & dance
  • movie nights
  • campfires
  • therapy dog visits

The program is a relaxed combination of indoor and outdoor activities providing a general good time for all.

To qualify for Cradle Beach Respite, applicants must:

  • Be 8 years old or older
  • Live at home with family – not in a group home or other situation.
  • Live in one of the seven counties of Western New York (Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Niagara, or Orleans County.)
  • Be enrolled into the OPWDD NYS Home & Community Based Waiver System and have a documented developmental disability.
